CAC Gleaning Program Update: CAC Works with Healthy Food for All and Second Harvest for Enhanced Gleaning Initiatives in Dane County

December 7, 2023

CAC is excited to be working closely with Healthy Food for All and Second Harvest to weave our gleaning program into their existing food recovery networks! This transition aims to enhance the efficiency of gleaning initiatives in Dane County, preventing food waste and promoting a more streamlined process.

Moving forward, Healthy Food for All and Second Harvest will coordinate and manage the food recovery program previously known as CAC Gleaners. Both agencies have ample partnership and volunteer opportunities related to food recovery and more.

Healthy Food for All is a community-based food recovery effort. We collect excess produce from farms and prepared foods from corporate cafeterias that would otherwise go to waste. We clean and repackage this food at the FEED Kitchens and then distribute it to food pantries and neighborhoods all over Madison, WI.

Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin is a non-profit organization that is committed to ending hunger in 16 counties. Their vision is to ensure everyone in their community has enough nutritious food to thrive.
