Senior Boxes

The Senior Boxes program, also known as the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and provides low-income seniors with a healthy variety of supplemental food items each month, reducing the amount of money they would need to spend on groceries.

Items in the box include:

  • Canned fruit
  • Low-sodium canned vegetables
  • Fruit juice
  • Canned chicken, tuna, salmon, or beef
  • Peanut butter
  • Dried beans
  • Shelf-stable milk
  • Grains (flour, cornmeal, rolled oats, rice, pasta)
  • Cereal
  • Low-sodium soups
  • And more!

To qualify for the program, you must be 60 or older and meet a monthly income requirement of 130% at or below the federal poverty level, so $1,353 for one person or $1,832 for 2 people.
