We are thankful to have a volunteer program that hosts over 500 people a year. The following opportunities are listed by division. For more details about a particular opportunity, please click on the division name. Development & Community Relations
Clothing Center
We need your help in our Clothing Center to sort, hang and display donated
clothing items. Weekly volunteer training sessions are held Mondays 8:15am - 11:30am and Wednesdays 1:00pm - 3:00pm. For more information, email Nichelle Nichols or call (608) 246-4730 ext. 216.

f you want to donate clothing, please do so between 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday.

 


2009 Koats for Kids - Dane County
Thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers who participated in Koats for Kids this year.  More than 40 individuals and 13 groups gave their time to sort over 12,000 coats and to help distribute the coats during our Public Distribution October 22-25, 2009.  CAC sends a heartfelt thank you to all of them!  A special thank you to Klinke Cleaners for collecting and washing all the coats. If you are still in need of a winter coat please visit our free Clothing Center at CAC, 1717 N. Stoughton Road. 

 

2009 Koats for Kids - Jefferson County
 We need groups and/or individuals to help sort, coats and help during public distribution October 29-31, 2009  and November 4-7, 2009.  For more information, email Jeanette Petts or call (920) 262-9667.

 

Donations: We are taking gently used children and adult winter coats. Please see attached flyer for the coat donation center nearest you.

Family Development Division
Help Homeless Families Move
Volunteers are needed on an on-call basis.

Help with Excess Household Goods Distribution
A volunteer is needed from 3:00pm - 4:00pm on Tuesday afternoons to help with our weekly distribution of household supplies in the Clothing Center.

Sort Household Items for Homeless Families
We need a volunteer to unpack and organize household items so that caseworkers can get these items to those who need them most.

Citizen Advocacy
We are always seeking people who are interested in becoming advocates. For more information, call (608) 246-4730.

Technology
We need help from people with expertise in database programs such as Access and SPSS. For more information, email Nichelle Nichols or call (608) 246-4730 ext. 216.

Translation
Help us better serve the Spanish and Hmong communities by volunteering as a translator or interpreter. For more information, email Nichelle Nichols or call (608) 246-4730 ext. 216. 

Food & Gardens Division
CAC Gleaners
Become part of the community's effort to prevent hunger by recovering good food that would otherwise go to the landfills. For available routes, click on this link: Food-Recovery Routes.

Food Share Day

We need individuals  to volunteer to help with Food Share Day, in which we partner with restaurants to raise funds for the Dane County Food Pantry Network. A longer term volunteer is needed during the months of June and July to follow up with restaurants and deliver promotional materials.

Food Sorters
We need volunteers to sort donated food for distribution to pantries.
