My Garden
MY
PLOT
Community gardening is little
different from backyard gardening. Please be sure you understand the
Garden Rules.
To find your plot,
consult the
Garden Map.
FREE COMMUNAL RESOURCES
Compost
The city delivers compost in April and again in October to the parking lot
near the fire hydrant. Take all you can manage to muscle up the hill and
use liberally to improve your soil. See the How To
section to learn about the proper use and application of compost.
Mulch
Garden staff delivers hay in April.
See the How To section to learn about the proper use
and application of mulch.
Seeds
Area nurseries donate unsold seed packets for our annual meeting in March.
Dozens of types of seeds are available. Most seeds are viable for at least
three years beyond the year for which they were packaged, so you may use them
with confidence.
Tools
Communal garden tools are available from Opening Day through Closing Day.
Tools are provided for everyone's use. Always clean tools and return them
to the storage rack.
Water
The city turns on the water the first day of May, and turns it off the last
day of September. Watering is limited to 15 minutes per plot per day.
Always turn the spigot off and wind the hose.
PLANT A ROW FOR THE HUNGRY
The name says it all.
Please consider planting an extra row in your plot. If you do,
please notify
Garden Staff, so when it's time,
they may arrange for delivery to local food banks. For more
information about the national program, visit
Plant a Row.
