Welcome
HISTORY
Our garden was
established
in 1987 by the Community
Action Coalition
as a community "show" garden for Madison's west side. It is located at
110 North Gammon Road, on
the grounds of the
Lutheran Church of the Living Christ,
which gives the garden a beautiful hilltop home and generous in-kind support.
WHO GARDENS HERE?
"At home, so sad ... at garden, so
happy."

-
5%
of the garden is tended by members of the church.
-
50%
of the garden is tended by people who are refugees or recent immigrants.
-
50%
of the garden is tended by people who live below the federal poverty level.
-
70%
of the garden is tended by people who live within walking distance.
GET A GARDEN
The whole garden is 10,000
square feet. Gardens are available in several sizes:
-
4' x 8' raised beds
-
10'
x 20' half plots
-
20'
x 20' whole plots
Fees are designed to be
affordable, and so are based upon income.
Seeds, water, mulch, compost and garden tools are
provided at no extra charge.
Every March,
gardeners must register for garden space. Last season's gardeners have
first right-of-refusal on plots, but
if plots out-number gardeners, people on the
garden's
waiting list are invited to register.
Please contact
Katie Place if you would like to be added to the waiting list.
