Food & Gardens Volunteer Opportunities

CAC Gleaners
Become part of the community's effort to prevent hunger by recovering good food that would otherwise go to the landfills. Volunteer Gleaners are assigned specific routes that they drive weekly to "rescue" perishable foods from local vendors and drop off at an assigned community agency (pantry, meal site, shelter, etc.). Besides keeping the route and establishing a good relationship with the vendor and agency, volunteer Gleaners are responsible for supplying CAC with monthly reports of the amount of food rescued and informing CAC of any changes or problems. For available routes, click on this link: Food-Recovery Routes.

Food Sorters
We need volunteers to sort donated food for distribution to pantries.

For more information about volunteer opportunities with the Food & Gardens Division, email Chris Brockel or call (608) 246-4730 ext. 206.
