Trick or Treat

Crop Walk

The Food Security Division aims to alleviate hunger in Dane, Jefferson and Waukesha Counties. Each year CAC distributes approximately 2.5 million pounds of perishable and non-perishable food to people in our communities.

Programs and services include:

CAC Gleaners
The CAC Gleaners food-recovery program is run by volunteers. Our volunteers safely and efficiently collect excess food from businesses for distribution to food pantries, meal sites, and distribution sites. A model for responsible business, the division also composts any food waste incurred in the process and provides the nutrient-rich compost to gardens served by CAC’s Community Gardens Division. For more information, click on these links: CAC Gleaners, Composting Project.

Food Fair
CAC has discontinued the Food Fair program. The majority of the sites we served will now be served by SHARE, another food-buying club. For more information, email SHARE, or click on this link: SHARE.

Food Pantry Networks
The Food Security Division works with pantries throughout Dane, Jefferson and Waukesha Counties. For more information, click on these links: Dane County Food Pantry Network, Jefferson County Food Pantry Coalition, and Waukesha County Food Distribution Sites.

Food Share Day
Food Share Day is a successful annual benefit in which participating restaurants pledge to donate at least 10% of their food receipts from one day’s sales to fight hunger in Dane County.  For more information, click on this link: Food Share Day.
