Our Financial Services Specialists provide budget counseling, mediation and referrals for households seeking short-term help. We also teach classes for individuals who want to work to improve their overall money-management skills. 

Planning for Prosperity
This 8-week course is taught in neighborhood centers around Madison.  It covers everything from helping people become conscious of their spending patterns, to reducing spending, to reading a credit report, to being a good consumer. Graduates of the class receive a certificate recognized by many landlords as a screening tool to help them "overlook" some types of bad credit history. The certificate can also be used to open a savings account even if the participant has had previous difficulties with banking.
