Family Support Caseworker Biographies

Marilyn Feil has been with CAC since 1996. November of 2006 marked ten incredible years of service to CAC participants! Marilyn works as a Housing Caseworker, splitting her time between the Darbo/Worthington and Northside neighborhoods. Throughout her time at CAC Marilyn has been involved in special projects, such as assisting your aging out of the foster care system to secure appropriate housing.

Maria Garcia worked at CAC for 8 years, primarily with Spanish speaking families. She recently left CAC, taking a new job with Mental Health Center of Dane County. We will miss you , Maria!

LaShell McCain Banks is a relatively new member of CAC’s Family Support team (joining us in August 2006), although she is not new to CAC. Lashell worked with Brooke and Marilyn as an intern when she was an MATC student. She is passionate about helping families affected by poverty with their housing needs. She currently serves as CAC’s Intake Caseworker, helping families get help from all of CAC’s programs and connecting them to appropriate community resources.

Rose Turner is CAC’s County Housing Caseworker. Rose has the enormous job of serving all families in need of housing help who are located outside of the City of Madison.  When she’s not in her car, she keeps office hours in Stoughton, Sun Prairie, Verona, and DeForest; but also travels to other areas of Dane County by appointment. Having previously worked with individuals affected by HIV/AIDS who are referred to CAC by AIDS Network or ARCW, she also has a vast knowledge of the resources available within the City of Madison.

Brooke Sdano returned to CAC last year after trying a position with the City Government. She missed the one-on-one service she was able to provide through CAC, and her participants missed her as well. Brooke works as a Housing Caseworker in both the Allied Drive and Russett neighborhoods. She has become a fixture in the Allied neighborhood, participating in community activities and advocating for her participants in the midst of the recent redevelopments in the neighborhood. Her Spanish speaking abilities are also an asset to her position and to CAC.

Sarah Sengchanh also returned to CAC last year after spending time with her family in Laos. Previously having worked out of the Allied area, she has adjusted well to her new position as a Housing Caseworker working with residents of Allied Drive and working collaboratively with our subcontracted partner agencies. Sarah also has a gift for working with our Asian refugees. She juggles all groups with grace and ease.

Melody Chavez came to CAC with years of experience working with families.  She has both worked and volunteered with numerous organizations in Dane County, including Briarpatch, Family Enhancement and Dane County Parent Council.  Melody will be splitting her time as a Housing Caseworker between the Badger and Southdale neighborhoods.  We are excited to have Melody on staff at CAC.

Emmy Lita is the most recent addition to the Family Support team. She is filling Brooke's position while Brooke is on a leave of absence. Emmy recently graduated from UW Whitewater with her degree in social work and really looks forward to using the knowledge and experience gained through her education to help people.
