Koats for Kids –Jefferson County

Distribution on Saturday, October 25, 2014 from 9 a.m. - Noon
Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, Inc. (CAC) is proudly partnering with Lake Mills Cleaners again this year to make Jefferson County Koats-for-Kids the largest community-wide coat give-away in the county. Distribution this year will be Saturday, October 25th from 9 a.m. – Noon at the CAC office at 114 East Main Street, Watertown.

Registration on the day of distribution is required to receive items. Identification is needed for each person in the household who needs a coat and households need to be income-eligible to receive donated items.  The income guidelines require households to be under 125% of poverty level. Call CAC at 920-262-9667 for more information.

Koats-for-Kids rely on donations of gently used or new coats. Children’s coats are especially needed this year. Donations of hats, mittens, snow pants and children’s winter boots are also welcome. All donations can be taken to any Lake Mills Cleaners pick-up site in Jefferson County or at their storefront in Lake Mills at 804 N. Main St. through October 20th.

CAC will also accept donations at its office in Watertown (114 E. Main Street).  Service clubs may also continue to take their group donations directly to the Lake Mills storefront until October 20th.

Ignite Madison - All Things Food

Wednesday, May 21, 2014- Ignite Madison chose CAC as the benificiary for their latest event! Because of our work helping low-income individuals and families access healthy food, a portion of proceeds from ticket sales supported CAC's Food Security Program- $1,500! This round of Ignite Madison focused on just what the title says- All Things Food. Click here for a recap of the events from the Cap Times.

What is Ignite? Ignite is a high energy evening of 5 minute talks (a speed-TED Talks of sorts) on a variety of topics presented by a variety of speakers looking to ignite and inspire. Each presentation is composed of 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds.

National Association of Letter Carriers - Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Saturday, May 10, 2014- During the 22nd annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, postal workers will pick up food from homes around the community during their mail delivery routes. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

January 20, 2014- Celebrate the memory of Dr. King by giving back to our community. We are looking for volunteer groups to help sort clothing donations for our free Clothing Center and sort food that will go to area food pantries.

Pet Food Drive

January 9 through February 2, 2014- Donate requested pet food items to one of 25 locations around Dane County and your donation will go to several area food pantries. Low-income households faced with the choice of purchasing pet food or providing basic needs for their family may have to make the hearbreaking decision to give up their pet. Through an initiative from the Dane County Humane Society and area businesses, you can donate to help prevent pets from being surrendered or abandoned. Donations will collected from drop off sites and distributed to food pantries by CAC in February.
