2009-2010 ARRA Programs (Stimulus Funds)


Programs

CAC has created new programs based on the needs of Dane, Jefferson and Waukesha county with the Stimulus/ARRA money received.  These programs will be available through September 2010.

Employment & Benefits:

Aiding homeless and disabled individuals apply for mainstream benefits and SSDI applications.  Assistance is also available with job search/application.  (Internal referrals only - individuals must have caseworkers at CAC or other nonprofit agencies to apply for this program.)

Back to Work:

No longer accepting applications.

Telephone Assistance

CAC is offering residents of Dane and Jefferson Counties assistance in establishing and maintaining telephone, cell phone or Internet service. Through the CAC Telephone and Telecommunications Assistance Program (TTAP), eligible applicants can receive financial assistance of up to $100 for land-line telephone, cell phone, or Internet service activation or to help pay past-due telephone bills. The CAC Income and Asset Development Specialist will also provide one-on-one budget counseling to program participants and make appropriate referrals to local financial education resources, as needed.

Small Business Grants

Community Action Coalition for South Central Wisconsin, Inc. (CAC) is offering a limited number of grants to small businesses located in Dane or Jefferson County. This grant is intended for sole proprietors. Participants in the program can receive up to $5,000 for their business needs, such as specialized training, materials, equipment, rental fees, advertising and promotional costs, consultation fees, development funding, repairs, market research, construction costs, licensing fees, and other costs.

CAC will be hosting three informational workshops for businesses interested in applying for a grant on the following dates:

  • January 12th at 1 p.m. and January 14th at 6 p.m. (1717 N. Stoughton Rd., Madison, WI)

  • January 13th at 5:30 p.m. (114 E. Main St., Watertown, WI)

Emergency Assistance - Dane, Jefferson and Waukesha Counties

CAC is offering short-term emergency assistance to eligible applicants in Dane, Jefferson, and Waukesha Counties in the following areas:

  • Utility Assistance

  • Household Items (Dane County only)

  • Moving Expense Assistance (Dane County only)

  • Car Repair Assistance (Jefferson & Waukesha Counties only)
